Abstract

THE ROLE AND PLACE OF GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS IN SEARCH AND SURVEYS OF SN ORE DEPOSITS

Summary
The growth in world's demand for tin and real possibilities of discovery and demonstration of new tin deposits in area of Poland draw more attention to the use of geophysical surveys in search for tin. The use and development of geophysical methods aimed at search of tin deposits was also the subject of international research project carried out within the frame of the COMECON Permanent Geological Commission. From the Polish side, the Enterprise of Geophysical Surveys (PBG) was taking part in works of that project. In Poland, there is noted the lack of joint geological-geophysical analyses which would both precede and close-search and measuring of deposits of some mineral raw materials. The lack may be due to organization of the geological survey different than in other COMECON countries.
The paper presents new comprehensive solutions currently used in search for tin deposits. The solutions involve construction of physical-geological model of tin ore deposit fields and the use of regularities of its zonal structure to establish perspectives of mineralization. There are also discussed some aspects of geophysical surveys connected with search and measurement of tin ore deposits in Poland.
