IMPURITIES IN VEIN QUARTZ FROM OLESZNA PODGÓRSKA AND POSSIBILITIES OF THEIR ELIMINATION

Summary
The results of studies on the types and amounts of impurities in quartz material from Oleszna Podgórska and its raffinates are presented. The occurrence of impurities in various types of raw materials was determined by the microscopic, spectral, atomic absorption spectroscopy methods and in an electron probe microanalyzer. The main impurities such as iron, magnesium and partly titanium were found to occur in the form of extrastructural admixtures accumulated mainly during the post-magmatic processes. Alkali metals and titanium occur in the form of liquid and gaseous inclusions and mineral inclusions derived from assimilation of shielding rocks. It was shown that the applied conversion process permits to eliminate them and to obtain a product similar to Brasilian quartz.
