Abstract

ON ORIGIN OF GROUNDWATER SALINITY IN THE GDAŃSK REGION Summary The salinity of groundwater in Quaternary aquifer in the Gdańsk region has been known for several years. A steady increase in concentration of chlorides may result in degradation of ground which would preclude its use for urban and industrial purposes. The development and migration of saline water front are discussed and seawater is shown to be the source of salinity of groundwater in this region.
