Abstract

ON THE NEEDS AND PRINCIPLES OF STATIONARY SURVEYS ON GROUNDWATER POLLUTION

Summary
Stationary surveys are shown to be necessary in areas where either groundwater pollution has been found or there exist large objects creating potential hazard of pollution. Such objects primarily include places of disposal of industrial and urban solid and liquid wastes and crude and rafined petroleum reservoirs. The paper presents a general classification of sources of pollution. The influence of hydrogeological conditions on migration of polluting substances is discussed. Individual stages in pollution surveys are characterized and principles of location of observatory boreholes and their construction are presented along with the methods of surveys and the form of documentation of the obtained results.
