ON RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TECTONICS OF CONSOLIDATED BASEMENT AND SEDIMENTARY COVER IN THE LIGHT OF SEISMIC DATA
Summary
On the basis of results of surveys carried out with the use of various seismic methods, attempt is made to trace relations between the tectonics of consolidated basement and its sedimentary cover. The profiles display changes in character of seismic record as well as in dip of reflection and refraction boundaries, distribution of which appears fairly uniform. The changes in seismic record are sometimes accompanied by vertical displacements of boundaries which are the major criterion for identification of faults . The presence of similar features of the record of seismic boundaries related to crystalline basement and its sedimentary cover in the same parts of the profiles suggests some connections between the tectonics of these complexes.
