Abstract

X-RAY METHOD OF ESTIMATING CALCITE CONTENT IN CRETACEOUS CARBONATE RAW MATERIALS Summary The paper presents X-ray method of estimating content of calcite in carbonate raw materials. The method has been elaborated in the course of studies on Cretaceous carbonate rocks in the Opole and Lublin - Chełm areas. In order to obtain standard series, individual minerals were extracted from rocks with the use of chemical and physical methods. Subsequently, intensity of analytic reflexes of calcite in the standards was measured and the course of standard curves independently established on the basis of theoretical equations. Theoretical data were found to be highly consistent with the experimental. The presented method is fairly accurate, simple and quite quick and it may be used instead of identifications of calcitic CaO with the use of chemical methods.
