BIOGENIC MICROSTRUCTURES AND MICROTEXTURES IN CARBONATE SOILS AT THE BACKGROUND OF THEIR PHYSICO-MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
Summary
Samples of biogenic carbonate soils from exploited deposits in the Koszalin voivodeship were studied with the use of scanning electron microscope (SEM). Analysis of SEM micrographs showed high-scale heterogeneity in internal structure of gyttja. It is concluded that microstructures and microtextures of biogenic carbonate rocks may display marked influence on variability of these rocks and lead to unpredictability of the obtained strength parameters, analysed in this paper.
