Abstract

ON THE ORIGIN OF GROUNDWATERS IN THE UPPER SILESIAN AND LUBLIN COAL BASIN Summary The hydrogeological development of sedimentary basins in the Upper Silesian and Lublin Coal Basins has been very closely related to orogenic events, influencing reconstruction of hydraulic systems and changes in hydrogeochemical zonality. The orogenic events resulted in cyclicity of geological processes and related hydrogeological ones. Tectonic mobility of sedimentary basins was favourable for origin of gravitational circulation systems at the percolational stages and compactional squeezing out of waters at the elisional stages. Such conditions were advantageous for exchange and mixing of waters of different age and origin in hydrogeological section of the basins. (…)
