Abstract
MORPHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF PORES AND THEIR RELATION TO THE ORIGIN OF STONY METEORITES
Summary
SEM studies of stony meteorite samples made it possible to differentiate seven basic morphological forms of pore space. Effective porosity tests were carried out with the use of the Carlo-Erba mercury porosimeter. The samples were found to be characterized by low effective porosity. SEM micrographs show that this is due to closing of permeable pore system in the course of metamorphic processes. Pore space in stony meteorites is shown to be similar in morphology to that of some lunar breccias, genetically related to the ejecta blanket.
