Abstract

PERSPECTIVES OF SEARCH FOR OIL AND GAS IN THE LUBLIN REGION Summary The paper presents results of search and perspectives of discovery of hydrocarbon deposits in the Devonian, Carboniferous and Cambrian in the Lublin region. In this area there were made 184 drillings with total length equal 463,295 m. Till 1973, there have been discovered two small accumulations of gas (Komarów and Minkowice) only. The search was thereafter stopped as insufficiently effective and the available data subjected to thoroughtful geological analysis. At the same time the quality of seismic profiles became essentially ameliorated in result of introduction of numerical techniques. This made possible more appropriate location of drillings on previously found rows of structural elements, in which numerous traces of hydrocarbons have been found in reservoir horizons. Validity of this approach has been confirmed by discovery of oil deposit in Carboniferous horizon E1 in the Świdnik structure in 1981.
