Abstract

METHODS OF COMPARISONS OF GEOLOGICAL IMAGES

Summary
Two kinds of comparisons of images of geological objects are differentiated. One of them involves comparisons of images of two objects different in type of recognized units and it makes possible comparisons of variability of the objects only. The comparisons may concern histograms of share of surface units, etropy, indices of variability in structure and anisotropy, and autoassociation functions defined for each image. Comparison of the other type cover geological images of the same object, obtained at different stages of surveys. Therefore, the above mentioned numerical characteristics of variability appear insufficient for estimations of similarity of the images. This question may be solved by the use of the coefficient of association, proposed as a measure of similarity.
