Abstract

CARBONIFEROUS FLORA OF POMERANIA Summary The paper deals with remains of macroflora found in core material of the Carboniferous in Pomerania (NW Poland). In that area, Dinantian (Lower Carboniferous) rocks are developed in marine littoral-neritic facies, and the Silesian (Upper Carboniferous) - in continental-limnic facies and red in colour in middle and upper parts of the succession. The succession also displays thin (0.1 -0.3 m thick) coal layers. The macrofauna is represented by single specimens in the Lower Carboniferous, and limited assemblages in the Upper (but imprints only in red-coloured rocks). The record of macrofauna well evidences the Lower Carboniferous, and Westphalian B. and C, whereas that for the Westphalian D remains debatable. Macrofaunal remains of the Namurian, Westphalian A and Stephanian age are still not known from this region.
