Abstract

MINERAL WATERS OF THE USTKA REGION

Summary
The well known seaside holiday place, Ustka, has recently become formally recognized as a health resort. A proper holiday season is, however, fairly short. Therefore, it appears necessary to develop proper facilities in order to extent the use of Ustka as the health resort. This requires availability of balneological materials, especially mineral waters.
The Geological Institute drilling Ustka IGH-1, 730 m deep, was made to evaluate mineral water resources in this area. The drilling recorded chlorine-sodium, bromine, iodine, and boron water with total mineralization of 33 g/dm3 and temperature 21°C in the Lower Permian at the depths 680 - 706 m. The surveys made possible evaluation of water resources and passing the intake of valuable balneological material to the health resort authorities for exploitation.
