Abstract

THE MODERN PALEOMAGNETISM AS A METHOD OF GEOLOGICAL STUDIES Summary The paper presents an analysis of the position of paleomagnetic method in the system of geological research methods. A number of objective and subjective difficulties impeding the use of this method in geological studies are presented and the role of magnetostratigraphic method in stratigraphic studies is discussed. The analysis also covers the use of paleomagnetism in regional and global tectonic studies. Attention is also drawn to possibilities of use of paleomagnetism in solving questions faced by researchers working on geology of Poland.
