Abstract

DISCONTIONUOUS TECTONICS OF PODHALE BASIN BASED ON PHOTOGRAPHIC INTERPRETATION AND LANDFORM ANALYSIS Summary Analysis of stereoscopic air photos and contour maps ( ordinary as well as photographicaly reduced for enhancement of key features of landscape) resulted in a discovery of a lineament system in the Podhale Synclinorium. These lineaments correspond in the field with zones of increased density of minor faults, reflecting probably dislocations in a substrate of the Podhale flysch. In the w hole area there are two diagonal assemblages of discontinuity zones that cross each other at sharp angles, and a single transversal assemblage that cuts a sharp angle between them into halves (it runs almost north-south) - Fig. 3. Diagonal assemblages correspond probably to complementary strike-slip faults in the flysch substrate, formed due to compression perpendicular to extent of Carpathian folds.
