Abstract

JOINT WITHIN ROCK BLOCKS OF THE CZORSZTYN SERIES IN SPISZ PIENINY KLIPPEN BELT

Summary
Klippen bodies of the Czorsztyn Series in the Spisz sector of the Pieniny Klippen Belt possess numerous joint factures. Amidst them groups of inclined cathetal joint and of vertical joint can be distinguished. A cathetal joint is worse developed than a vertical one and indicates a trend to preserve a constant relation to bedding. A vertical joint is considerably dependent on reorientation of klippen bodies and location of the Czorsztyn Series. A cathetal joint forms a fourset pattern that is diagonal to the strike of beds. This joint is found to be of shear origin and is composed of two acute angle and complementary systems. It had probably developed before a formation of klippen bodies. A vertical joint forms a two-set shear pattern and a poorly expressed tensile orthogonal system. It constitutes a younger joint, being open mainly alter a formation of klippen bodies. It seems probable to have been also formed in the same time in Podhale area. A development of joint in klippen bodies of the Czorsztyn Series has been a long-lasting process.
