Abstract

THE OUTCROP OF THE SUDETIC BORDER FAULT IN THE BARDO MOUNTAINS

Summary
The only geomorphological outcrop of the Sudetian marginal fault is in the Stobna brook Valley on the north east border of the Bardzkie Mountain. Along the short section the Tournai Opolnica formation borders upon serpentinite of the upper Proterozoic belonging to the Fore Sudetian block. Closer to the fault face, that is not exposed, serpentinite is fine crushed into nonconsolidated braize containing no sedimentary admixture material. Rather significant width of the disintegration zone of the rock does not allow to connect it with a movement during Pliocene and Quaternary. The movement is a resumption of movement on the older dislocation active have in lower Paleozoic and Mezozoic. Then the Fore Sudetian block was uplifted, that was eroded 2,5 km deeper then the Sudety. During these deformation the movement was directed contnary. Along the Sudety margin serpentinites are covered with the limnic Tertiary and Quaternary deposits rested on the pre uppermiocene (fossile-here) peneplain.
In the Stobena brook the erozion cut a fossils serpentinite monadnock. On other sections along the fault decomposed rocks accumulate.
There is no evidence that the crusted serpentinite was a sedimentary melange stipulated here by B. Wojsprych (1985).
