Abstract

ON THE PRECAMBRIAN-CAMBRIAN BOUNDARY Summary The paper presents some remarks concerning the problems of phosphatization, scleritome reconstruction and evolutionary lineage of the earliest fossils, that were under discussion during the meeting in Uppsala (Sweden, May 1986; 9). In connection with above mentioned problems a review of the earliest fossils from the lowermost Cambrian deposits of Poland was done by the present author. On the basis of the review one can prove, that only such taxa as Platysolenites antiquissimmus, Mobergella radiolata and M. turgida may have any application for the global correlation of the Precambrin-Cambrian boundary on the specific level. The last, known fossils: Coleolella (?). billingsi, C. differo, Torellella cf. laevigata, Aldanella polonica and Anabarites (?) sp. can serve for biostratigraphic comparison only on the generic level. On the basis of above mentioned fossils we are able to receive that so call Sub-Holmia or Klimontów Stage in Poland (tab. I) contains the elements of biota known from Tommotian Stage in the Siberian Platforme. More precise correlations of the biozones distinguished within above mentioned stages faced with difficulties.
