Abstract

FACIES ANALYSIS OF THE WIELKOPOLSKA SUBGROUP (UPPER ROTLIEGENDES) IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE FORE-SUDETIC MONOCLINE

Summary
On data obtained from several tens boreholes in the northern part of the Fore-Sudetic monocline facies analysis of the Wielkopolska Subgroup (Upper Rotliegendes) is presented. Lithostratigraphic names used in the present paper (Tab.) are according to formal lithostratigraphic names proposed by the author ( 4).
The Wielkopolska Subgroup is built of conglomerates (The Książ Wlkp. Conglomerate Formation) and sandstones (The Siekierki Sandstone Formation). In the lower and middle parts of the Siekierki Formation sometimes occur conglomerates, which are distinguished as follows the older - Polwica Conglomerate Member and the younger - Solec Conglomerate Member.
The quantitative lithofacies map (Fig. 1 ), on which is marked thickness of the clastic deposits of the Wielkopolska Subgroup, is the main tool of the present analysis. On the basis of differences and similarities in the coarse lithofacies are made three maps of transport directions of clastic material for the early (Fig. 2), middle (Fig. 3) and late stage (Fig. 4) of the Wielkopolska Subgroup. Conclusions of this contribution are compared with the previous author's paper (3) and works of other geologists (1, 6, 9, 10).
