Abstract

VANADIUM IN ORGANIC MATTER OF COALS AND VITRINITES FROM THE BOREHOLE NIEDOBCZYCE IG-1

Summary
Thirty six samples of coals and twenty six samples of concentrates of vitrinite from these coals were incinerated and concentration of vanadium was determined in the obtained ashes. The results of these determinations were subsequently used to differentiate four classes of the coal and vitrinite samples and mean content of ash and concentrations of vanadium were evaluated for each of these classes. Distributions of concentrations of vanadium in organic and inorganic fractions of coals and vitrinites were determined with the use of function of dependence of concentration of vanadium in ash on ash content in coal (or concentrate of vitrinite).
The analyses showed that vanadium is mainly (in 98%) related to inorganic matter in coals from the borehole Niedobczyce IG-1 and the share of vanadium related to organic matter remains negligible. The actual distribution of concentrations of that element in organic and inorganic fractions of the studied coals indicates that supply of the element was due to terrigenous agents.
