THE QUESTION OF COMPACTION OF BACKFILL AROUND UNDERGROUND TUNNEL CASING
Summary
The question of subsidence and compaction of backfill for Warsaw underground tunnels is discussed and results of studies on compaction of local non-cohesive and cohesive soils in test fields are given. The studies were carried out using mechanical tampers which are available at present. The usability of penetrometer tests in studies on compaction of backfills under the conditions of underground construction is also discussed .
