Abstract
TECHNOLOGIC PROPERTIES OF CARBONIFEROUS CLAYSLATES FROM THE LUBLIN COAL BASIN AND THEIR POSSIBLE USE
Summary
The paper presents results of studies of technologic properties of near-coal barren rocks of the Lublin Coal Basin. Clayey rocks (clayslates) were analyzed. They are located in top and bottom of balance beds of hard coals. Besides, clayey deposits within coal beds (interbeds) were studied. Carried investigations prove a considerable variation of technologic properties of top and bottom series, and the interbedding ones. Such variation is noted in clayslate properties either before or after their burning. The paper presents also a comparison of technologic properties of clayslates from Lublin and Upper Silesian coal basins. The Carboniferous claystales were found to be a valuable ceramic material. They can be also used in production of artificial light break-stones, fireproof materials and in casting industry.
