WIELICZKA - MESOSTRUKTURAL EVIQENCE OF TECTOGENESIS
Summary
The salt mine Wieliczka is located at front of the Carpathian overthrust. A sheet complex (parautochthone) is overlain by a block one (breccia) formed due to a thrust from the south-southwest. Numerous stages of this process have been registered in abundant tectonic mesostructures that are to be easily observed in the mine. The paper presents numerous tectonic phenomena as polished surfaces, faults, groups and systems of fissures, drag and cleavage folds, breccia and melange, deformations of laminae and crystals (Figs. 1 -11). Some of these mesostructures oppose the olistostromic origin of the deposit that has been recently proposed (13, 14, 25).
