Abstract

NEW DATA ON ORE MINERALIZATION IN LATE PALEOZOIC SEDIMENTS OF THE MYSZKÓW-MRZYGŁÓD AREA, NORTHEASTERN MARGIN OF THE UPPER SILESIAN COAL BASIN (USCB)

Summary
This paper presents new data on mineralization in the Early Paleozoic rocks of the Myszków-Mrzygłód area. In 1982-87 several deep geologic-deposit boreholes were drilled. Five of them indicated symptoms of molybdenum, tungsten and copper mineralization, thickness and intensity of which have been previously unknown in the northeastern margin of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin. Location of these boreholes is presented in Fig. l. A synthetic image of mineralization of Paleozoic sediments noted in these boreholes is illustrated by lithogeochemic sections (Figs. 2-5).
Noted symptoms of mineralization are polygenetic and were formed due to action of various deposit-creative processes (sedimentary, magmatic, metamorphic and hydrothermal ones).
Ore formations found in the boreholes comprise mainly the pyrite-copper or copper-molybdenum ones of sedimentary origin or the molybdenum-tungsten-copper one of stockwork type.
Close spatial connection of these formations dependent probably on genetic factors could be studied at distance of several kilometers between Myszków and Mrzygłód and to a depth of 1250 m. It suggests a possible documentation in this area of rich molybdenum, tungsten and copper ores.
