Abstract

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SUTURAL GEOFRACTURE ZAWIERCIE-RZESZOTARY FOR DEVELOPMENT AND OCCURRENCE OF PALEOZOIC MINERALIZATION AND O RE DEPOSITS OF ZN-PB Summary An analysis of deep magmatic and metallogenic phenomena indicates that the dislocation Zawiercie-Rzeszotary acts as a sutural geofracture that reaches a lower boundary of the lithosphere. This dislocation forms a persistent weld of the Upper Silurian age, connecting due to colliding orogeny two microcontinents i.e. the present blocks of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin and the Małopolska Massif. Later geologic history of this geofracture proves that an incomplete welding and poor cicatrization resulted in occasional opening of the fissures, stimulating magmatism and metallogenic phenomena.
