TERTIARY FOUNDRY QUARTZ SANDS IN GLACIAL ERRATICS IN THE VICINITIES OF STRZELNO, GDAŃSK COAST
Summary
The paper presents qualitative characteristics and methods and range of studies aimed at proving resources of Tertiary quartz sands for the needs of foundry industry. The studied deposits are related to four glacial erratic bodies in the Quaternary of the Strzelno area, Gdańsk coast (Figs. l, 2, 3).
In northern Poland there is still deficit of foundry sands as the whole proven basis of these raw materials i s limited to southern parts of the country. The surveys carried out in the Strzelno area may be treated as a contribution to that problem, making possible further methodological studies in the regional scale. The latter should result in discovery of new deposits and covering the demand for foundry sands in this part of Poland.
