Abstract

PROPOSAL OF CHANGES IN OBLIGATORY RANGE OF ANALYSES OF NATURAL AGGREGATE DEPOSITS

Summary
The obligatory range of analyses in evaluating natural aggregate deposits is shown to be too wide and unjustified by real variability of the deposits. The paper presents results of calculations of variability of individual qualitative parameters for 77 deposits. The results were used to estimate probability of discrimination of material not matching requirements of the Polish normatives nor economic criteria in the course of documentation works. It was found that this probability is surprisingly low (not higher than a fraction of percent) for the majority of the analysed parameters. It follows that parameters such as content of elongate and flat grains or content of extraneous contaminations may be completely neglected and others analysed on a much smaller scale. Grain size distribution and petrographic composition are the only parameters which should be analysed for all the prospecting drillings.
