8 chronohorizons with abundant fauna recognized originally in northern Germany may be distinguished also in the Turonian deposits of southern Poland (Fig.). The particular chronohorizons, whose distinguishing must be preceded in every case by their careful chronostratigraphic analysis, represent the record of the events leading to the temporary, short-lasting mass occurrences of fauna in the Turonian sea.
