Abstract

ON LACK OF INFLUENCE OF BEDROCK ON TL AGE OF TILLS Summary The known in literature (l, 2, 5-7), section of glacigenic sediments of the Odra Glaciation at Rozwady near Opoczno (Figs. l-3) was exemplified to indicate that TL age (Table) of individual genetic horizons of these sediments i.e. lodgement till ( > 206 ka and 265 ±39 ka), melt-out till (235 ±38 ka) and ablation till (267 ±34 ka) supports their synchronism and reference to the maximum extent of this glaciation in Central Poland (4). In spite of considerable admixture of local material (mainly quartz) from underlying Liassic sandstones, the received TL data proved that TL age of glacial sediments can be considered for valuable if compared with datings of other Pleistocene sediments by the same method. Such conclusion is due to obliteration of glacially-transported material in result of its crushing under pressure of the ice sheet (8).
