Abstract

EXOGENETIC SURFACE PROCESSES AND TECTONIC ACTIVITY IN THE MIDDLE LUBRZANKA PIVOTAL FAULT AREA: AN ATTEMPT OF DATING (CENTRAL POLAND) Summary The main objective of the paper is to prove that morphological changes and exogenetic processes in the Holy Cross Mts. Paleozoic core have been strongly influenced by the young tectonic activity. To examine this thesis the case study in the middle Lubrzanka pivotal fault area has been performed. It has been shown by the use ofC-14 dating that these morphogenetic events were the result of a tectonic impulse which appeared about 440 B.P. Tectonic-morphological consequences of this impulseappear to be in force till now. It is concluded that, contrary tothe hitherto prevailing views, the tectonic mobility has been themain force responsible for the surface morphodynamic processes, that is to say, activation of eolian processes, erosion, and accumulation. If so, morphogenetic interpretations concerning the Holy Cross Mts. should not be performed without taking into account the tectonic factor.
