Abstract

EVOLUTION OF CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF BRINES IN THE SOLIKAMSK BASIN (LOWER PERMIAN, URALIAN FOREDEEP)

Summary
Study of chemical composition of brine inclusions in 49 samples of chevron halite coming from the SolikamskBasin showed that the brines were initially of Na-K-Mg-ClS04 type and were slightly depleted in sulfate ion (to 5 g/l) when compared to modern concentrated marine water. Subsequent concentration of brines led to their complete loss of sulfate and to increase of potassium content (to 33 g/l in sylvinite complex) and magnesium content (to 96 g/l insylvinite-carnallite complex). The sulfate composition of brines in the Solikamsk Basin is typical for other Permian evaporite basins as well.
