Abstract

MICROSCOPIC STUDIES OF THE FLUORESCENCE OF HYDROCARBON FLUID INCLUSIONS IN THE CEMENTS OF SEDIMENTARY ROCKS

Summary
In digenetic environments there occur fluid inclusions of different character, in that hydrocarbon and water ones in the reservoir rocks. The higher hydrocarbons display fluorescence in the light of a mercury lamp. That is how in themicroscopic sample the hydrocarbon inclusions (e.g., oil) maybe distinguished from the water ones.Studies on fluid inclusion fluorescence in the cements of sedimentary rocks are an excellent tool for correlations between diagenetic growth of minerals during cementation and filling of the fractures and generation of the hydrocarbons. The present short communication has the aim of a brief presentation of the fluorescence studies of fluid inclusions in the minerals filling the porous space of the sedimentary rocks which might be conducted even during standard petrologicprocedure.
