Abstract

ICHNOLOGICAL RECORD OF PALAEOENVIRONMENT IN THE TRANSGRESSIVE MIOCENE DEPOSITS OF THE SKOLE UNIT IN THE DUBIECKO REGION (SE POLAND)

Summary
Almost totally bioturbated transgressive Miocene (Badenian) sands and sandstones in the Dubiecko region (Figs. 1, 3) contains Ophiomorpha isp., Planolites isp., ?Scolicia isp., Thalassinoides isp., and vertical burrows of ?bivalves (Figs. 2, 4-7, 10). Moreover, terenid wood boring Teredolites longissimus (Figs. 8-9, 11) occurs in wood logs, which were found in one horizon at Przedmieście Dubieckie (section 3 ). Probably, the discussed deposits were accumulated in middle and lower shore face in well oxygenated environment. Above the wood logs, a horizon containing different bivalves preserved in life position occurs (Fig. 12). It is a record of a mass mortality event related to changes of salinity.
