Abstract

MAIN PROBLEMS OF TECTONICS AND TECTOGENESIS OF THE PALEOZOIC IN THE HOLY CROSS MTS (CENTRAL POLAND)

Summary
In this paper author presents results of this own tectonics research on the Paleozoic rocks in the Holy Cross Mts (fig. 1). These rocks occur on the two block of the Earth crust, between the East European Platform and the Variscan orogen. Tectonic evolution of the two blocks in the Early Paleozoic was different and resulted in of the isolation of the both blocks. In the Kielce block, Early and Late Caledonian folding occurred. In the Łysogóry block in the Early Paleozoic only vertical movement took place. Starting from the Devonian, the both blocks were evolving together. During the Variscan activity in the Carboniferous, main movements in the Holy Cross Mts took place. In the same time the main tectonic units in the Paleozoic rocks of the Holy Cross Mts arose as suggested by structural analysis (Figs.1-5). Variscan movements in the Holy Cross Mts occurred in the same phases, due to the tectonic stress of the Variscan orogen in SW Poland.
