Abstract
DIRECT RESEARCH OF AUTO-SEALING PROCESSES OF WET WASTE DUMPS. A CASE STUDY: THE DUMP IN PRZEWORSK
Summary
The article presents documenting and analyzing methods for indicators reflecting the level and condition of a wet dump sealing. Conditions were determined for deposit sedimentation, and silting-up of the tank bottom and slopes as the basic processes leading to its sealing. A preliminary analysis was performed to evaluate reflux reduction as the tank is sealing itself. Basic field research, ”in situ”, of physical characteristics and filtration properties of deposits and substrate soils of the dump, was performed from the water surface, using a specially built platform. The results allowed calculation elaboration of the dump water balance, which is important for evaluation of the dump influence on the environment.
