GEOLOGIC CONDITIONS FOR OPTIMAL WASTE STORAGE
Summary
The paper presents basic problems of research and evaluation of geologic conditions, which are essential for optimization of municipal and industrial (non-municipal) waste storage sites. The topic was analyzed in context of the new legal regulations, and the new draft of the Ministry of the Environment regulation on the issue of dumps, using the author’s own large research experience, and data fromthe literature on the subject and fromarchive materials. Special attention was paid to the issue of geologic conditions of prospective dumping sites localization, to mineral isolation barriers, to the research scope and techniques for wet dumps (deposit ponds) and dumping grounds, geologic inspection during exploitation, monitoring, liquidation and dump area recultivation.
