THERMAL FIELD OF THE POLISH CARPATHIANS AND ADJACENT AREAS
Summary
Map of the surface heat flow in the Polish Carpathians and adjacent areas was compiled from published data, includinggravity anomalies pattern. MT (magnetotelluric) soundings results and gravity modellings enabled evaluation of the crustal heat production. The radiogenic heat flow was computed along two profiles in western and eastern segments of the Polish Carpathians. Along both profiles, increased crustal component of the surface heat flow is observed in gravity minimum zone. In that zone the crustal (radiogenic) component exeeds the upper mantle one; probably due to greater Earth`crust thickness observed in most MT cross-sections is supposed to account for it.
