Piaskowce tufitowe warstw marczowskich w okolicach Świerzawy

Abstract

Podany został petrograficzny opis piaskowców warstw Marczówskich, które w okolicach Świerzawy tworzą obrzeżenie zrębu - zwanego zrębem Świerzawy - zbudowanego z utworów staropaleozoicznych. W obrazie mikroskopowym wydzielone zostały trzy zasadnicze grupy składników piaskowca: szkielet ziarnowy, drobnoziarnista kwarcowa masa wypełniająca oraz wtórne spoiwo polimineralne. Piaskowce warstw Marczówskich należy określić jako tufogeniczne. Ich sedymentacja odbywała się w środowisku bagiennym.Tuffaceous sandstones of Marczów Beds (Westphalian? Stephanian?) near Świerzawa - West SudetesAbstract A petrographic description is here given of sandstones in the Marczów Beds. They are the oldest exposed horizon in the North Sudetic basin. The three following main groups of constituents have been differentiated in their microscopic composition: detrital framework, fine-grained quartzitic groundmass, secondary polymineral cement. The constituents of each of the above groups have described and their origin discussed. This has allowed the sandstones under consideration to be classified in conformity with the views of Pettijohn (1957) and those of Williams, Turner & Gilbert (1955) and to make certain conclusions as to how the postdepositional stage of their genesis had been performed. In the writers opinion the sandstones of the Marczów beds should be recognised as tuffaceous because of the abundance of pyroclactic detritus in the detrital framework and of the presence of the fine-grained quartzitic groundmass whose occurrence Dapples (1967) supposes to be a very characteristic feature of tuffaceous sandstones.
