Abstract


HYDROGEOCHEMICAL MODELLING STUDY OF THE GROUNDWATER FLOW RESEARCH: A CASE OF ATACAMA SALAR, NORTHERN CHILE

A contact zone between fresh and salt waters was the best identified at sea coasts, but it may be formed in other hydrogeological conditions, e.g. in salars in endoreic basins too. In this work the part of hydrogeochemical model of Atacama salar in the Northern Chile is presented. The model called SHEMAT (Clauser, 2003) used in this work allows simulating hydrogeochemical conditions according to groundwater flow, variability of density, transport of ions and geochemical reactions that occur between the waters and rocks.
