Abstract

ATTEMPTS TO EXTEND THE KGHM POLSKA MIEDŹ SA RESOURCES

Abstract. The paper describes the current situation with regard of KGHM Polska Miedź SA resources on concession and prospective areas, located in the direct vicinity of present mining activity. The rules of current restoring the resources, proportionally to consumption and loses of reserves are given. Directions and trends in investments in world wide metals mining industry per regions, countries and per mining project type (grassroots, minesite, late stage) were analysed. Current data on copper resources in the North Sudetic Basin as well as possibilities of increasing the resources at the boundary of Żary Perycline and the North Sudetic Basin were presented. The perspectives for purchasing the deposits located close to Saxony copper ore occurrence were discussed. Native copper mineralization on Wołyń was described. The only one foreign project of KGHM in Democratic Republic of Congo was developed. Additionally some projects being within the interest of KGHM Polska Miedź SA were listed.
