Abstract

THE PROSPECTS FOR DISCOVERY OF AN ORE BODY IN THE ŻARKI–KOTOWICE REGION BASED ON PETROGRAPHICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL STUDIES

Abstract. The Żarki–Kotowice region is located in western part of the Małopolska Block, close to the Kraków–Lubliniec tectonic zone. Petrographical and geochemical studies of Ediacaran rocks from this region revealed Mo, W, Cu mineralization with trace amounts of Ag, As, Pb, Zn and Bi. Ore elements are accompanied by K, Ba, and Mn anomalies. This mineralization shows many features similar to those identified in peripheral parts of the low-fluorine Myszków Mo–W–Cu porphyry deposit. The central part of undiscovered ore body can be expected between the boreholes 133-Ż and 45-BN, and to the southwest at the depth of about 950–1350 m.
