THE IMPACT OF URBANIZATION ON THE SPECIFIC LEVELS OF GROUNDWATER TABLE – AN ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS OF STUDY CONDUCTED IN THE RESEARCH STATION OF THE FACULTY OF GEOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW

Abstract. In order to assess the changes in the precipitation recharge due to natural and anthropogenic factors, and to determine the regime of fluctuations of the groundwater table of the shallow aquifer in urban areas, a detailed assessment of the results of long-term observations was made. The observations were carried out in the research station of the Faculty of Geology of the University of Warsaw. The research has shown that the regime of fluctuations of the groundwater table of the shallow aquifer in areas of large agglomerations is controlled mainly by anthropogenic factors that effectively mask natural factors.
