Sedimentological investigations of the profile of the autochthonous saliferous formation in the area of Wieliczka and Bochnia
W kilku otworach wiertniczych wykonanych między Wieliczką i Bochnią uzyskano pełne profile osadów tortonu. Wśród tych osadów wyraźnie odróżnia się formacja solonośna złożona w przeważającej mierze z ciemnoszarych osadów ilastych. Poza osadami chemicznymi wykształconymi w postaci soli kamiennych i anhydrytów, w profilu formacji solonośnej występują także liczne wkładki dolomityczne noszące charakter osadów chemicznych.
Full profiles of Tortonian sedimentary rocks were obtained in several bore-holes situated between Wieliczka and Bochnia. The saliferous formation consisting mainly of dark-grey clays is easily distinguished in these profiles. The salt series present in the lower part of the saliferous formation comprise halite salts and anhydrites. Numerous intercalations of chemically deposited dolomites occur both below and above the salt series. These intercalations are more abundant above the salt series. Gypsum crystals and small pyrite concretions are present in the whole profile of the saliferous formation. Moreover the clays of the saliferous formation contain a large amount of salt, ranging up to 1 weight per cent of Cl. The saliferous formation is overlain by sands with intercalations of clays, in which the amount of salts does not exceed 0,2 weight per cent of Cl.
