Abstract

TECTONICS OF THE NORTHERN LIMB OF THE PODHALE SYNOLINORlUM

In the north-eastern part of the Podhale Basin (Western Carpathians) a zone of strong tectonic disturbances was observed in tile flysch deposits. This zone runs parallel to the dislocation contact of the Podhale Basin and the Pieniny Klippen Belt. The tectonic disturbances were probably caused by block displacements in the substrate. A system of faults oblique to the contact with the Klippen Belt and joint which is similarly oriented in the contact zone suggest an existence of horizontal displacement of the Pieniny Klippen Belt in relation to the Podhale flysch.
