Abstract

Fifteen conodont species are noted for the first time from the Muschelkalk of the SW Mesozoic margin of the Holy Cross Mts. An attempt to correlate the Muschelkalk series with those of the Alps and Germany on the basis of these new findings, as well as previous ones, is presented. The heterochroneity of lithostratigraphical units hitherto proposed is demonstrated. Differences in the conodont assemblages point to the fact that three different conodont provinces succesivelly influenced the Muschelkalk basin of the Holy Cross Mts.
