Lower Cambrian trilobites from Upper Silesia (Goczałkowice borehole)

Abstract

A new area of Cambrian deposits, obtained in boreholes has recently been discovered in Upper Slilesia (SW Poland). Lower Cambrian trilobites Schmidtiellus panowi (Samsonowicz), Strenuaeva primaeva (Brogger) and Ellipsocephalus nordenskjoeldi Linnarsson were found in the Goczałkowice IG-1 borehole. These trilobites are here concisely described and their stratigraphical position briefly discussed. A correlation of the Lower Cambrian deposits in Poland is also presented.
