Abstract

Cambrian formations in the Łeba area (Northern Poland)

A Iithostratigraphic subdivision of the Cambrian sediments in the area of Łeba (Pomerania) is presented. Eight units of formation rank are distinguished among which two members. These units are correlated to local biostratigraphic subdivision and to those established in Scandinavia. A stratigraphic gap in the Upper Cambrian is ascertained comprising an interval between the Homagnostus obesus Zone and the Peltura scarabeoides one. The sediments of the Acerocare Zone have been partly eroded hence the Arenigian sediments rest on them unconformably.
