Abstract

Based on new finds of pelecypods and ammonites, a Middle Jurassic age of controversial deposits in the vicinity of Szlachtowa, Pieniny Klippen Belt (Polish Carpathians) has been established. These deposits, recently distinguished as the older Szlachtowa Formation and the younger Opaleniec Formation, represent the oldest lithostratigraphic units of the Magura Succession in Poland.
