Abstract

In the chalk deposits exposed at Mielnik-on-Bug (eastern Poland) the assemblage of belemnites comprises four species: Gonioteuthis sp., Belemnellocamax mammillatus (NILSSON), Belemnitella mucronata (SCHLOTHEIM), and Belemnella (Pachybelemnella) inflata (ARKHANGELSKY), which assess the section to the intervals: the uppermost Lower Campanian, through the lowermost Upper Campanian, and the lowermost Maastrichtian. A stratigraphic gap associated with the hardground horizon is ascribed to the upper part of the Upper Campanian (Belemnitella langei Zone).
