Abstract

SEDIMENTARY CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HIGH-TATRIC SEISWithin the high-tatric series of the Tatra Mountains the Seis occurs at the bottom of the sedimentary series in contact with the crystalline massif (or with the Koperszady conglomerate). The contacts here are, mostly, sedimentary. Those of the tectonic type are associated with local tectonic disturbances. Seis sediments display close reciprocal similarities in sections,·while their facial differentiation is gradual. Cyclic sedimentation is observable in section in the sequence of beds and occurrence of intraformational outwashing. These features - together with, bedding types and the presence of ripple marks and various casts indicate the marine origin of the Seis deposits.
